Manila — The Integrated Bar of the Philippines, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines and the International Visitors Leadership Program alumni invites the media to the Project Launching & Forum on: Access to Justice Amid the Global Health Crisis on December 20, 2021 from 8:30AM-12:00NN.
The event keynote speaker is Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo. The program will include a forum which will feature speakers from the National Center for the State Courts, USA and Myanmar. Reactors will be law deans of the partner law schools of pilot areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
This virtual event brings emphasis on Securing Justice through Technology to Broaden Public Access to Justice and to Strengthen the Justice Systems of Cultural Communities (SecureJustice), a Leadership Action Plan (LAP) of Judge Jerlie Luis Requerme, a 2020 cohort of the Next Generation Leader’s Program of the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Washington, DC, and an alumna of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the US Department of State. The project is in partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) and the Cultural Affairs Office of the US Embassy in Manila, co-proposed by the alumni of the different US Department of State’s exchange programs.
SecureJustice will have two (2) components: Access to Justice through the establishment of Access to Justice (A2J) Hubs and Mediation for Cultural Communities in Mindanao. The proponents believe that “Using remote technology is a proactive strategy to bridge the gap between the lack of legal services to increasing access to justice to the people we serve. The effective utilization and integration of technology in the legal process including the alternative dispute resolution, will create the relevant efficiencies not only for a more responsive judiciary but for a more inclusive community as well.”
