In 2019, FDA issued an advisory to warn the public from purchasing and using unnotified Toys and Child Care Articles (TCCA) containing restricted chemical ingredients such as phthalates in children’s plastic swimming toys.
The use of substandard and possibly adulterated TCCA products may result in health risks including, but not limited to, endocrine disruption and reproductive or developmental effects in relation to exposure to these compounds.
BAN Toxics urges parents to take precautions in buying unnotified and unregistered swimming floats and toys for children.
